  • ASSAM ENGINEERING COLLEGE

    Assam Engineering College, the first engineering college in the north-east India, was established in the year 1955. It is situated at Jalukbari in the south-west part of Guwahati, which is a landmark in the colourful and chequered history of Assam. Encircled by the Gauhati University on the north, the Deepor Beel on the south, the Government Ayurvedic College on the east and the Assam Police Radio Organisation on the west, Assam Engineering College not only provides an ideal context for learning but also creates a charming impingement on visitors. The campus is spread across 400 acres of land. The college started with the Civil Engineering department, and within a few years other engineering departments were started. Presently, it awards Bachelor in Engineering degrees in eight different engineering disciplines, Master in Engineering degrees in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and Master in Computer Application degree. The college offers PhD programs under all departments. All the courses of AEC are affiliated to Gauhati University.

    JORHAT ENGINEERING COLLEGE

    Jorhat Engineering College, the premier institution of North East India and the second Government Engineering College of Assam has completed its fifty years of relentless service to the society. The College came into existence on 7th January, 1959 at H.R.H.P.O.W. Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jorhat with the then Principal of the Institute, Sri H.N. Barua also as the Principal in-charge of Jorhat Engineering College. The College started functioning with admission of its first batch of students in Civil Engineering, on 10th October, 1960.

    With a glorious journey, the College currently offers AICTE recognised B.E. courses in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science & Engineering and Instrumentation Engineering and M.E. course in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering. The College has been offering three-year post graduate course leading to Master of Computer Application (M.C.A.) since 1987.

    BARAK VALLEY ENGINEERING COLLEGE

    Barak Valley Engineering College is the first state government engineering college in the Barak valley region of Assam and it is the fifth state engineering college. The noble initiative for setting up this engineering college was taken in the year of 2009 by the Government of Assam and started its full fledged operation in 2017 under the purview of Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Assam. The college campus is connected to the National Highway by PWD rural roads.

    BINESWAR BRAHMA ENGINEERING COLLEGE, KOKRAJHAR

    Bineswar Brahma Engineering College was established in 2008 by Assam Government at Kokrajhar district Assam. In 2006 Assam Government announced that an engineering college would be set up at Kokrajhar. The college is situated at a village called Chandrapara, which is 5 km from  Kokrajhar town. The engineering college is named after the prominent leader of Bodo community and former president of Bodo Sahitya SabhaBineswar Brahma. The college is affiliated to Gauhati University, Guwahati, Assam and is accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

    JORHAT INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (JIST)

    Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology, in short, JIST is a premier and unique Institute of Assam, situated in Sotai, Jorhat District of Assam. Formerly, it was Science College, established in 1971, as a Degree Science College with Courses in Major Science subjects namely Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. In the year 2007, it was renamed as Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology with an aim to expand the Institute. New Departments namely Department of Computer Science and Information Technology was introduced in the year, 2007 by introducing 3 years professional course in B.Sc. (IT) and two Engineering Branches namely, Electronics and Telecommunications (ETC) and Power Electronics and Instrumentation (PE&I) in August, 2009 and two more new branches namely Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering are introduced form the academic session 2016-17. To fulfill the Mission and Vision of the Institute, from this acadmic session i.e August,2016, Post Graduate Degree Courses i.e. M.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics are introduced with due permission from the Affilliating University(Dibrugarh University) in regular mode as well M.Sc. in Chemistry is introduced this year i.e. from the academic session 2017-18.
    The Institute has a Distance Education Cell under IGNOU and is running B.Sc. Courses to supplement its services to the non-institutional students.

    GOLAGHAT ENGINEERING COLLEGE

     

    Golaghat Engineering College is the sixth approved engineering college of Assam located at Bogorijeng Golaghat. It is spread over an area of 110 Bighas (44 acres) with a clearly demarked boundary wall. The college currently provides undergraduate 4 year degree course in three branches namely Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering. The first batch of students got admitted to this college in August, 2018. It is equipped with state of the art infrastructure.
    Its geographic location is 26°33' longitude and 93°58' latitude. It is located at a distance of 5 kms from Golaghat Town and 22 kms from NH37 at Dergaon. The nearest railway station is Golaghat Railway Station, Golaghat which is 6.3 Kms away from the college. The nearest Railway Junction is at Furkating, which is approximately 13 Kms away from the college. The Rowriah Airport, situated at a distance of 35 Kms from the college, is the nearest civil airport. Regular bus and train services are available from Golaghat to Guwahati. It has one Academic block, one Administrative block, 2 numbers of Workshop buildings, 1 guest house, 1 Electrical Substation, one 4th grade residential building, one Boys’ and one Girls’ hostel and a Principal’s Residence within the campus at present.

    DHEMAJI ENGINEERING COLLEGE

    Government of Assam has resolved to establish Dhemaji Engineering College at Dhemaji which was placed before the State Assembly during the Budget Session in 2016- 17. Government of Assam has also resolved to start the academic program at Dhemaji Engineering College from the session 2020-21. To get admittance into this institute, one must have to clear the mind boggling Assam CEE examinations held in May of every year. The college is situated away from the clamour of the capital town Dhemaji, and is nestled in the lap of nature. This college provides Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in three fields mainly- Mechanical, Civil and Computer Science & Engineering. Assam Science and Technology University, Guwahati agrees to affiliate these undergraduate courses. All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi 110070 has also granted approval for Dhemaji Engineering College, Dhemaji.
